A varied grouping of material related to Walter Breen’s U. S. Half Cent Encyclopedia published in 1984. Tett contributed heavily to the book by offering his coins for inclusion and photographs of them, prepared pedigree information on the coins, and contributed his error coins that constituted an entire chapter of the book. There is a detailed 6 page list of all of his coins provided to Breen, as well as notes on a teleconference with Jack Collins about meeting to photograph Tett’s coins. The material includes Tett’s multiple page detailed hand-written errata and addenda to the draft of the book, Tett’s order of 4 copies of the book and the later refund of the payment for the deluxe edition as it was not produced in a timely fashion, two different full-page ads in Coin World for the book, John Wright’s review of the book in Penny-Wise, and a critical review of the book published in the “Repository” in 1984 by Bill Weber and Breen’s unhappy response from the next issue.
Items relating to the publication of Roger Cohen’s 2nd Edition of “Little Half Sisters”. They include Cohen’s draft of the Table of Equivalents, a letter from Cohen detailing Jules Reiver’s and his visit to St. Louis to photograph Tett’s coins for the book, a list from 12/81 of the owners of the plate coins for the book and their known pedigrees (Cohen offers Tett the opportunity to remove his name from the list before others see it), an updated version of the previous from 6/82 with much more complete pedigree info, and rough drafts of new sections for the book (“Other Half Cents”, “A Short History of Half Cent Collecting”, and “Photographs”).
