1889 5C Liberty Nickel -- Struck 15% Off Center -- MS62 NGC. Struck off center toward 7:30 with portions of the first two stars off the flan. Richly toned autumn-gold and stone-gray. No marks are present though minute flecks are scattered. Due to the off-center strike, the corn ears show full detail. Pre-1900 off-center Liberty nickels are quite scarce in Mint State grades. This elusive example is a wonderful error type coin that is ideal for a specialized collection of 19th century Mint errors. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $1,410.00 .
