- Cleveland, OH - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 515 The Western Reserve NB Ch. # 4782 PCGS Very Fine 20. An extremely rare Cleveland bank which issued Brown Backs only during its brief seven year tenure between 1892 and 1899. Before the arrival of this example, only two pieces were listed in the census, a serial number 1 $20 which we sold in 1991 and again in 1999, and a lone $50 Brown Back whose whereabouts are unknown and which has never been offered at public sale. Fortunately for collectors, this evenly circulated $50 Brown Back is problem-free and perfect for the grade, with vivid colors, even margins, and bold pen signatures. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $5,170.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19938. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
