- Tarkio, MO - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 494 The First NB Ch. # (M)3079 PCGS Very Fine 35PPQ. An extremely rare early note from this one-bank community of about 1,500, located in the extreme northwest corner of the state. Only one other Brown Back is listed in the census, with that piece grading Very Good. This $20 Brown Back is new to the collecting public and is a beautiful example with vivid colors, nice centering, and enormous eye appeal. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. - Springfield, MO - $1 Original Fr. 381 The Greene County NB Ch. # 1677 PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. An extremely scarce Springfield bank which issued First Charters only before closing at the expiration of its charter in 1888. This is the fifth note reported from this institution, which has had only one appearance at public sale since we sold the Denny example back in 1990. It bears the rare Treasury signature combination of Jeffries and Spinner, which was used only by the twenty or so banks that received their charters between October of 1867 and March of 1869. The Apparent designation is for "Small Edge Splits and Tears; Piece Replaced at Top Left; Tape Repair on Back." A scarce First Charter note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
