- Saint Louis, MO - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 504 The Mechanics NB Ch. # 5788 PCGS Fine 12. Brown Backs only issued from this short lived St. Louis banking venture, with this institution keeping its doors open for a mere four years between 1901 and 1905. - Saint Louis, MO - $100 1882 Date Back Fr. 571 The State NB Ch. # (M)5172 PCGS Very Fine 35. One of the most significant items in this landmark Missouri offering, with this note the only $100 1882 Date Back recorded to date from any bank in the state of Missouri. The $100 Date Back is a rare type from just about every state, with a total of only 131 examples listed in the National Bank Note Census from all banks in all states. Not one has ever been reported from any of the four banks in Missouri that issued this type, which is hardly surprising as the total issue in the Show-Me state was a miniscule 3,000 pieces from all four issuers combined. With all of the collectors of Missouri Nationals, as well as all the collectors of St. Louis Nationals, never having had the opportunity to obtain even one $100 1882 Date Back from any Missouri institution, any estimate here is simply a speculation. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $8,225.00. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19914. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Saint Louis, MO - $20 1882 Date Back Fr. 555 The State NB Ch. # (M)5172 PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ. A perfect example to represent this better type. The margins are clear of the design all around, the signatures are sharp, and the paper quality and originality high enough to merit the PPQ designation. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $998.75. Newman VI (Heritage Auctions, 4/2015), lot 19913. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
