- New Orleans, LA - Exchange and Banking Company of New Orleans $100 Nov. 1, 1836 LA-55 G12a. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is a choice condition example of a very scarce issued note engraved by Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. Seated Commerce and Mercury are at the upper left, the titles to the right. Identical ends show a Justice vignette in the center. Noted with a "Hinge on Back at Right," a trivial flaw that does not affect the face. Bright and attractive, much finer than the few we have seen. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $352.50. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18344. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- New Orleans, LA - Exchange and Banking Company of New Orleans $10 18__ LA-55 G6 Proof. PCGS Choice About New 58. A beautifully designed and handsome Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. India paper proof. At top center is a capitol style building hugged under the curved title; flanking are "10" counters. The ends are identical, each with a standing classical statue of George Washington on a base that is balanced on a small "X." Noted as "Hole Punch Cancelled" as made. There are a few known, but there are fewer auction records, indicating that proofs from this issuer are closely held by collectors. Light handling only on this rarely seen New Orleans proof. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $763.75. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18343. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
