- New Hampshire July 25, 1775 2 Shillings 6 Pence Fr. NH-135. PCGS Very Good 10 Apparent. There were only 4,000 notes authorized from this series and type. The majority was redeemed for later notes, and the few that do exist are low grade, as seen here. This example is natural, in the state of having split vertically in half and sewn together in period. The left indent design is slightly angled inward at the top. The printing clarity for the grade is attractive. Noted with "Center Split Sewn Together; Small Edge Tears." A rarity in any condition. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $822.50. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18114. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Province of New Hampshire May 1, 1761 10 Shillings Fr. NH-114. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 Apparent. This is an extraordinary New Hampshire Colonial note and the only example from the series we have seen or are aware of. Like the January 1, 1761 six pence offered here, this is the Newman 5th edition plate note. A larger bill than the six pence, with intricate ornamental patterns on the perimeter, a small crown at the top center, and the texts enclosed within. The small cartouche at the left center encloses the motto PAX BELLO POTIOR. The notes were payable by December 25, 1765 in 2.5% interest bearing Bills of Exchange. From the face, this has the appearance of a nearly "as made" note. Beautifully printed and mostly well margined. The note split horizontally and an antique paper strip on the back secures the halves together. The paper maintains embossed originality and is bright. Noted with "Center Split Repaired with Backing; Small Edge Tears" for accuracy. After many decades in the renowned Newman Colonial currency collection, this note is being offered at auction for the first time. This is a marvelous opportunity to bid on another likely unique note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $18800.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18113. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Province of New Hampshire January 1, 1761 6 Pence Remainder Fr. NH-107. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This January 1, 1761 six pence remainder is exceedingly rare and probably unique. It is the only note from the series we are aware of, the issue missing from even the Boyd combined collections. It is the Newman plate note in the 5th edition. This small format note printed on laid paper has ornamental patterns at the sides and top. At center is the obligation specifying payment in 2.5% interest bearing Bills of Exchange. The motto in the small cartouche is PAX BELLO POTIOR (Peace is preferable to war). This unnumbered and unsigned note faces up well considering the splits with back tape repairs noted as "Splits, Tears and Minor Damage; Tape Repairs." This debut offering at public auction presents a unique opportunity for serious New Hampshire specialists. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $4700.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18112. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Province of New Hampshire April 3, 1742 Redated 1743 6 Shillings Fr. NH-62. PCGS Good 06 Apparent. All "Tall" Bills of Credit from New England are very rare to extremely rare. That is especially true for New Hampshire and, traditionally, these have been very well collected. This is a lesser denomination, uniface note from the series. It was printed from a well-crafted copper plate. Detailed texts are in the top center; at lower right, the Royal Arms. In the center is a pine tree emblem with the "1743" redate deftly placed within the vignette's cartouche. Technically a low-grade note, but it is mostly complete with the exception of few small missing chips. Noted with "Splits and Repairs; Damage and Pieces Missing; Stained." A rare note in any grade, and very collectible. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1527.50. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18111. - Province of New Hampshire December 25, 1734 Portsmouth Merchants's Note 2 Shillings Fr. NH-38.2. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. This is a uniquely styled "Tall Bill," and an interesting issue, not unlike the Massachusetts banking "schemes" notes from 1740. These notes were issued by the group of merchants led by Hunking Wentworth, in Portsmouth, during the period the Crown prohibited the Colony from emitting further bills of credit. Due to scarcity of other bills of credit and specie in circulation, they issued these "Tall" bills to facilitate commerce (hence the motto BENEFICIO COMMERCI on the face). They produced a negative reaction and, early in 1735, a large group of Boston merchants agreed not to redeem these notes. These bills were 1% interest bearing, payable in 1746. They were printed on laid paper from well-engraved copper plates. In the center are the detailed obligations. Scrollwork and sculptural corners are at the top. At lower left is the Pine Tree emblem with the motto BENEFICIO COMMERCI. The note was also printed on the back with a distinctively designed ship at sail, heading westward, and ornate scrollwork above. The face has three signatures and is countersigned by Hunking Wentworth on the back, just under the vignette. This is the rarest denomination in the series and merits a premium evaluation. We wish to note that the authorized five shillings note is unreported and is considered to have not been printed. This is a very handsome example, essentially as made, with minimal handling. This choice note has been ensconced in the Newman cabinet for multiple decades and is worthy of the finest collection due to rarity, condition and pedigree. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $18800.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18110. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
