- Georgia June 8, 1777 $3 Red "In" Fr. GA-105a. PCGS Choice About New 58 Apparent. From the face, this is a superb type note and virtually as made. The black ornament printing is super sharp, contrasting beautifully with the rich orange Frontiersman seal color. Wide margined on the three sides; the top is just a bit wavy. Viewed from the blank back, a "Small Paper Pull on Back" can be observed at the right edge. Overall, this is beautiful type note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1880.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18053. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Georgia 1777 No Resolution Date $17 Fr. GA-93. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The highest denomination of this series and, like some previous seal series, utilizing the iconic Rattlesnake Seal printed in blue. There are at least six varieties observed with this border (i). Only a minor "Small Edge Split at Bottom Center" is noted on the Apparent designation. This is a pleasing example, and quite difficult to obtain in high grades. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1645.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18051. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Georgia 1777 No Resolution Date $9 Fr. GA-89. PCGS About New 50 Apparent. This has a well-detailed Justice Seal as used on lesser denomination notes from the earlier series. This border (a) note has strong paper quality, but the noted "Minor Edge Damage" refers to a small wedge chipped off the top ornaments. Strong color and paper are attributes of this attractive note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1997.50. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18050. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Georgia 1777 No Resolution Date $7 Fr. GA-88. PCGS Very Fine 30. A well-printed example with excellent text and seal color contrasts. The Hand seal is beautifully detailed, and is an interesting image from the series. This is a border (e) variety note with the left indent showing a natural wavy cut as issued and an extra piece of the right note observed. Problem-free paper quality, although some very slight tone is observed around the signatures; otherwise it is nearly a PPQ note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $1880.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18049. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.

- Georgia 1777 No Resolution Date $4 Fr. GA-86. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This type is one the great rarities of the Revolutionary War Georgia issues and is only the third note we have encountered in the past quarter century of sales research. As we discussed earlier, the Boyd and Midnight Ride Collections each contained an example of this unpriced rarity. But many of the greatest Colonial note collections were without a representative of this type. This Liberty Cap seal type uses border (c), the only border observed for this type. The highest record for this note is the $23,000 for the Boyd piece sold in May 2005; that example is currently off the market and there are no immediate plans for its sale. The Midnight Ride Example certified by PMG as VF30 EPQ fetched $9,775. The present note is very acceptable, complete with wide selvage at the left and bottom. The mottled staining is mentioned in the Apparent notations of: "Stains; Small Edge Tears." This significant note completes a trio of $4 Georgia rarities that have never been offered in a single sale to our knowledge. An auspicious occasion for serious specialists and students of this field. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society Realized $3055.00. Newman VII (Heritage Auctions, 10/2015), lot 18048.
