T. & Co." watermarked paper with this observed vertically. The red protectors on these denominations are lighter and differently styled than those on the $1 and $3 notes. At the upper left, steamboats glide along a busy harbor. The enactment is above the vignette rather than around the Missouri State Arms as on the lower denominations. Two different denomination dies are at the right end. The light red script FOUR and "4" protectors are outlined in a deeper color. Plate A (of two, A and B). Complete margins and faint handling. The layout is the same as that seen on the other lesser-denomination sheets. The $1 notes have pastoral scenes of cows on a riverbank, and the $3 note shows Plenty floating over the ocean. Red protectors are on each, at the top of the $1 notes and the bottom of the $3. The margins are trimmed down to the borders. With very vibrant color and bold printing.
