Plattsburgh, NY - Carlisle D. Tylee, Payable at New York, Albany or Whitehall [&] "Receivable on board lake Champlain Steam Boats" 37-1/2 Cents July 28, 1815 Harris H11. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is another very rare and fascinating note from the intriguing title. The layout and diagnostics are similar to the 6 ? cents. A wide format note printed by J. Oram, New York. Payable at three locations as noted on the top border: New-York, Albany and Whitehall. The specific merchants are listed in the obligation text across, below the "37 1/2" and textual denomination. Along the bottom is the clause, "Receivable on board lake Champlain Steam Boats." Oddly, it has a Rarity 6 rating in Harris's New York scrip reference, which is too liberal. Noted with "Stains," but a full note with ample margins all around. The slightly finer example in Newman Internet 3 realized $705. This is the last available note from the issuer in the Newman Collection. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society

Thick red ink was used for the Mayers stamping on the face; DRUGGIST is upside-down. Noted with "Small Edge Tears." The bottom margin is not complete, but the note is well printed. Ex: Eric P.
