Folio [41 by 25.5 cm], later black leather-backed boards. 40 + 22 pages; 36 finely engraved plates of medals, arranged 22 + 9 + 1 + 2 + (1) + 1, with the plate following the 9 serving both as plate 10 for Queen Anne and plate 1 for George I, whose second plate is the one at the very end. A very early and frankly bizarre anti-counterfeiting proposal which averred that "it is easier to forge a copper plate than a plain writing" and suggested that replacing all engraved bank notes with handwritten ones, signed by those who issued it and all who subsequently passed it, would lead to fewer problems.
