(2), xvi, 204 pages, tables, 23 text figures, 3 finely engraved plates of minting machinery and operations. Small 4to, original russet cloth, paneled in blind; spine and upper cover lettered in gilt. Binding a bit stained and dusty. Very good. Cooper's work is indispensable to those interested in the minting process, and Ansell is a well-known classic on the topic. Estimate $250. Ex: Eric P. Inscribed and initialed, "Price & Buying Copy / EPN" on the front cover. Entirely priced by hand, with notes indicating which lots were purchased by Eric P. Newman for himself and which were bought by him for others; a few other significant buyers also recorded, including James DuPont and Paul Garland. Newman's pre-sale notes indicate which lots he needed, which ones he had in lesser condition, and occasionally how notes compared to other specimens about which he knew.
