- Maranville Coin Tester In the Original Box This scarce scale is in exceptionally good condition, with just a faint trace of underlying brass that shows through the nickel finish along the bottom edge. The important blue box shows edge wear, and the gold type is slightly faded but legible with magnification. We recommend transcribing the directions for use and putting a copy into the box. Formerly lot #6 in the 1989 Gorlick sale. The Dial Coin Tester was used by both merchants and miners to determine the accuracy of coins used in transactions. Approximate dimensions: 4.0 x 2.5 x 1.0 inches. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15076 (realized $528).
