- 1722 Sweden Plate Money 4 Daler Good XFIssue of Frederick I. 241 x 250 mm. A rather rare denomination to encounter for the series with seemingly few abrasions for its immense size. The four corner stamps show strong remnants of double striking, with the second strike markedly displaced from the first, and light die polish lines visible in each. An all-in-all covetable example sure to excite interest from collectors of Swedish coins. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15063 (realized $3360). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11851

- (1947) Saudi Arabia Gold Pound Struck by the Philadelphia Mint Uncirculated DetailsIn 1947, the Philadelphia Mint struck two gold bullion British denominations, one pound and four pounds, for Saudi Arabia in return for oil rights. The issues were all the more unusual given that at the time, strict limitations were placed on the gold holdings of U.S. citizens. The present well-struck example is unworn but displays marks along the reverse margin, likely from an attempt to determine whether the piece was plated. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15062 (realized $1440). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11734

- 1839 Areq-MV Peru (South Peru) 8 Reales, AU55 Arequipa mint. Here is one of the rarities of Peruvian coinage. This early Republican issue is virtually never encountered. When it does appear, it is most often damaged or low grade. The coin offered here is a lovely toned example with soft gray patination and strong underlying luster. The standing female symbolizing Liberty dominates the obverse; she carries a capped pole and rests her hand on a shield inscribed LI/BER/TAD. The reverse has a wreath above arms, with sprigs at both sides and date below. Arequipa is a major manufacturing center in southern Peru today, but was far less influential at the time of independence. 4 Reales coins were minted in some quantity in the 1840s but virtually no 8 Reales coins with the figure of Liberty were issued. It is a great privilege to offer such a rarity, further enhanced by its exceptional condition. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15061 (realized $9600). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11746

- 1577 Netherlands Lion Daalder, XF45Issue of Batenburg under Herman Dietrich von Bronckhorst. A highly scarce locale for the popular Dutch Lion Daalder, particularly in such a glimmering state of preservation, and struck on a very round flan free of flan cracks. Moreover, the surfaces have taken on a lightly golden hue, with traces of residual luster still clinging to the boldly rendered devices. Ex. Virgil M. Brand. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15060 (realized $2280). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11813

- 1774 Ireland Halfpence, MS63 Brown Prototype for the Later IssuesAn exceptional and extremely rare offering whose origin as a pattern issue is evident by the boldness of the strike throughout, with every lock in George's hair fully detailed, and every feature on the intricately engraved harp well-defined. While 1775 and 1776 saw regular circulation halfpence production, the 1774 striking can only be found as a pattern, indicating that this was indeed the prototype for those later issues. This pattern is quite scarce in any condition, increasingly so when encountered in such lofty condition as this, and accordingly deserves exceptionally close bidder attention. Truly a numismatically significant coin, one which many collectors may never have the chance to acquire again. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15059 (realized $4560). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11836

- 1486 Austria (Tyrol) Sigismund Guldiner, XF40A quintessential coin, often dubbed the "first Taler," this charming specimen is here seen in a level of presentation and originality that is virtually unmatched by any example that we have encountered to-date. The strike is of admirable quality, and the obverse is sheathed in a fine ashen patina, likely centuries-old. The reverse is equally impressive, exhibiting a lighter sandy hue with a similar degree of strong detail. A wondrous offering, one that is likely to serve as a centerpiece of its future owner's cabinet. Ex: Virgil M. Brand. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Auctions 11/2018 (Newman XI), lot15058 (realized $19860). Heritage link: http://www.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1283&lotIdNo=11751
