- St. Paul, MN - Treasurer of Ramsey County Uncut Sheet of $1-$2-$3-$5 18__ Hewitt D1-2-D2-2-D3-2-D5-2. Remainder. PCGS Choice New 63. An impressive American Bank Note Co. engraved sheet with superb red color devices, dies and outlined protectors on each denomination. This is a rare sheet, and always attracts attention when presented for auction. The Newman Collection sheet denominations were used as the individual denomination plate notes in Shawn Hewitt's Minnesota Obsolete Currency book. This particular sheet is quite interesting. It is the first we have seen with the full left end margin, which is very wide because the sheet would have been bound into the note-issuing book. The spectacular vignette styles feature a reclining Native American hunter on the $1, a long wagon train on the $2, a family river rafting scene on the $3 and a traveling steamboat on the $5. The advanced red color devices include micro-lettered denominations and complex patterns. The appearance is just stunning, and the condition is superb. We sold a PCGS Choice About New 58 sheet for $4,112.50 in January 2013. This is worth a premium, and with the full width selvedge at the left and superior, unfolded condition, this sheet should exceed that price. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $2585.00
