- Dalton, GA - Bank of Whitfield in Dalton Uncut Sheet of $1-$2-$5-$5 January 1, 1860 GA-155 G2-G4-G6-G6. Remainder. PCGS Choice About New 55 Apparent. This is a very stylish sheet by New York Bank Note Co, (W. L. Ormsby). It is rarely seen in this uncut manner with full selvedge. Distinctive vignettes include: a farmer giving his horse a treat on the $1; farmers harvesting grain on the $2; and a train traveling through the countryside on the $5 notes. This sheet is brighter than the Alan Dorris Collection example we sold in January 2015 for $1,762.50. Noted is a "Small Edge Split in Right Margin," which is difficult to notice on a sheet. - Jacksonville, FL - Bank of Jacksonville Uncut Sheet of $1-$1-$2-$3 18__ FL-25 G2-G2-G4-G6, Benice 1B-1B-2B-3B. Remainder. PCGS Very Choice New 64. This rarely encountered Florida sheet was engraved and printed by the New England Bank Note Co. The undated sheet has false signatures. An excellent selection of vignettes from their repertoire is seen: sailing vessels on the $1; a pastoral scene on the $2, with a stoic Jackson at right; and an early train on the $3. All the notes have superb layouts, and as a sheet, the artistic balance is excellent. We have sold three examples of this type, including a raw Uncirculated sheet from the Norman Collection that realized $1,725 at Long Beach in 2008. - Washington, DC - Bank of the District of Columbia Uncut Sheet of $5-$5-$5-$10 ___1858 DC-215 G8a-G8a-G8a-G10a. Remainder. PCGS Very Fine 30. This is a rare, uncut Obsolete sheet engraved and printed by Bald, Cousland & Co. with a full orange tint plate outlining the protectors. On the $5 notes, the farmer driving a hay wagon interacts with a blacksmith in the center; the tint outlines the protector "V" and two "5" numerals across. At lower left is Buchanan, and at the lower right is seated Ceres. On the $10 note, the tint outlines the ornate "X" across the center with the top center vignette showing a farm family chatting with a smithy. There are some minor handling folds, but it has wide selvedge and a bright face. This looks New at first glance. Ex: Eric P. Washington is at the lower left, and a wharf scene at the bottom right. The bank title is in the top selvedge. Perfectly framed and broad margined. A crisp and bold example. - Dubuque, Iowa Territory - Miners Bank of Dubuque-Iowa Lead Mines payable at the Mechanics & Traders Bank, Cincinnati $20 18_ IA-5 G8, Oakes 58-5. Remainder. PCGS About New 53 Apparent. The highest denomination from this three-note series of tie notes engraved and printed by the Western Bank Note & Co./Woodruff, Tucker & Co. A balanced layout has a small cameo profile die in the top center flanked by encircled vignettes with a woman holding a basket at left, and the other raking. At bottom left is a "Johnny Appleseed" type of vignette, and at the lower right is standing Agriculture. The Flynn Collection note was superior this example and realized $5,175 as a raw note graded Very Fine-Extremely Fine. This note has some flaws mentioned, with "Minor Edge Damage and Small Tear at Bottom; Mounting Remnants on Back." This is broadly margined and is only the second example we have ever cataloged. The middle denomination from this rare series of Cincinnati payable title notes. This has an interesting layout by Western Bank Note & Co./Woodruff, Tucker & Co. Titles and obligations are in the center. At the far left is a trotting horse in an ornately framed oval. At the upper right a Native American hunter preparing to heave a tomahawk. The Flynn Collection example in our September 2008 Long Beach sale realized $2,530 as a raw note graded Very Fine. This example is broadly margined and bright with noted "Mounting Remnants on Back." The first example of this well styled rarity we have offered since the groundbreaking Flynn Collection auction. A great opportunity to obtain a fascinating Iowa rarity. Ex: Eric P.
