- New Orleans, LA - New Orleans and Bayou-Sara Mail Company $3 Jan'y. 2, 1862. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This series has an engraved date, and was printed on white paper by Jules Manouvrier. A long steamboat is at top center between portions of the title. The left end has a pelican and chicks, the emblem of Louisiana. The right end has a perpendicular THREE. Printed by Douglas on the back of an 1830s Schmidt & Co. exchange certificate. At top center is a small steamboat vignette under the arced title. At the left end is seated Agriculture, perpendicular ONE is at the right and a blue protector ONE is at the bottom. Even circulation with all the details clear. Ex: Eric P. - New Orleans, LA - Bank of New Orleans $5 Feb. 5, 1862 LA-100 G20a. PCGS Very Fine 30. A handsome coin-vignetted note with orange back. Engraved plates are by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson. The top center shows a Native American princess and hunter flanking three cherubs and five gold dollar coins in the foreground. At lower left is an ornate "5" with five females. The back is orange with a crescent moon at the center with title, and nested within, a pelican and chicks vignette. Intricate dies are at the ends. - New Orleans, LA - Mechanics & Traders Bank $3 Certificate of Deposit Dec. 26, 1873. Remainder. PCGS Very Fine 25PPQ. This interesting Reconstruction period scrip was "payable in U.S. Currency." A striking note printed by the American Bank Note Company. On the face, there is a full green protector guilloche, and "3" protectors flank the reclining vignette of tropical Plenty. At the lower left is Justice. At the lower right is an aproned standing mechanic. The very intricate green pattern back has the obligation in the center and uses a Federal style.
