- Milledgeville, GA - Central Bank of Georgia $20 June 1, 1829 GA-225-UNL. PCGS Very Fine 20. This is a very rare issued note from an undervalued Georgia bank. The handsome layout is by Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Co. At top center is a small vignette of Washington on a rearing horse. Flanking are a facing cherub's head at left and a circular emblem to the right. Intricate end panels have Lafayette and Penn portraits at the left and right respectively. There is a perpendicular ink stamp at the left, but it is difficult to interpret the intent. There are two proofs known; one from the Alan Dorris Collection realized $1,762.50 in April 2015. Specialists will realize the importance of this superior grade and rare issued note boasting sharp signatures and vibrant printing. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $423.00

- Macon, GA - Monroe Rail Road and Banking Company $2 Cashier Note May 1, 1840 GA-215-Not Listed. PCGS Very Fine 20. The railroad bank issued demand notes as strictly defined and listed by Haxby. However, he decided not to include this series, despite also being payable "on demand" and certainly as much a "banknote" as most from the period. Beautiful intaglio engraving shows an eagle at top center flanked by dies. At the far left is standing Justice, and at the far right is standing Agriculture. It has the engraved signature of the cashier, but was hand signed by the agent. A scarce and interesting period bank bill. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $141.00
