- Augusta, GA - Meister & Meyer-Segar Manufactory $2 March 1, 1864. Very Fine 20. All obsolete scrip note collectors will find this example's title fascinating; it is the first we have handled. The issuer was not in the comprehensive Alan Dorris Collection sales. It was printed on white paper without an imprint and has a late Civil War date. The denomination is across in Gothic font. At the top, between "$2" counters, is "Segar Manufactory." At the far left end is a standing Native American hunter. Wide margined and bright. There is a small tone spot on the top left edge, but this is academic when factored in with its extreme rarity. This is another wonderful discovery in the Newman Collection. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1145.63

- Augusta, GA - Georgia Rail Road & Banking Co. $2 July 1, 1855 GA-10 G42a SENC. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. The earlier date from this Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson engraved type is SENC in Haxby. This variant was not in the Dorris Collection; that had only the later date, which is the Haxby Plate Note. Athena and an allegorical female flank an ornate "2" at the upper right. Different women are featured in oval frames in the bottom corners. This rarity faces up well though noted are a "Small Edge Split and Minor Damage at Left." - Augusta, GA - Bridge Company of Augusta $10 18__ GA-45 G22. Proof. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. A stunning India paper proof engraved and printed by Leney & Rollinson with a custom vignette for the bank series. A fierce looking eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch flies above the bridge in the top center vignette. Tollbooths and gatekeepers are at either end to allow passengers entry. Shimmering moir? patterns provide the background for the end panels with TEN perpendicular at the left. The type is reversed out for a white on black effect while at right, the denomination is black on white and slanted. Proofs from the series are rare, with the Alan Dorris Collection having only two proof denominations, a $5 and a $20. They both realized over $1,000 in the January 2015 FUN auction. The handling is faint and the printing clarity exceptional. This is one of the most striking engravings from the 1815-1822 imprints. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1292.50
