- Augusta, GA - Bridge Company of Augusta $10 18__ GA-45 G22. Proof. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. A stunning India paper proof engraved and printed by Leney & Rollinson with a custom vignette for the bank series. A fierce looking eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch flies above the bridge in the top center vignette. Tollbooths and gatekeepers are at either end to allow passengers entry. Shimmering moir? patterns provide the background for the end panels with TEN perpendicular at the left. The type is reversed out for a white on black effect while at right, the denomination is black on white and slanted. Proofs from the series are rare, with the Alan Dorris Collection having only two proof denominations, a $5 and a $20. They both realized over $1,000 in the January 2015 FUN auction. The handling is faint and the printing clarity exceptional. This is one of the most striking engravings from the 1815-1822 imprints. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1292.50

- Augusta, GA - Augusta Insurance & Banking Co. $100 Jan. 21, 1860 GA-35 G56a. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. An underrated denomination from this available issuer. It is from the stunningly engraved American Bank Note Company vermillion color series. As above, the note uses earlier Danforth, Wright & Co. vignettes and security features, and that imprint remains on the plate at the bottom right. The color features have security strips at the left end and an ornate protector HUNDRED at the bottom right. The title is compact and to the right within this unusual layout, and all of this is balanced with a wide vignette of the United States Capitol across the top. The "Mounting Remnants on Back" do not affect the impressive eye appeal of this lovely type. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $176.25
