- Magnolia, FL - Merchants' & Planters' Bank at Magnolia $5 Jan. 21, 1833 FL-35 G6, Benice 3. PCGS Very Fine 25. This is another classic 1830s Florida series with well-engraved issued notes. An attractive $5 type from the Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Co. series. Mercury, spilling a bounty of coins at top center, is flanked by "5" dies. - Jacksonville, FL - Confederate Packing House 5 Cents Jan. 1, 1862 Benice 27. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Justifiably a very popular title with Southern note collectors, and quite scarce. This is a sharp-looking example with bold printing and a well-accomplished signature. The title is across the top with text in the center. Four small vignettes of bales balance with the text. At the left end is an obligation and payable clause at the local Bank of St. Johns. Noted with a "LL Corner Replaced; Design Redrawn." A historic type from Civil War era Florida. Ex: Eric P. Full red lace tint is across the note, and a hunter felling a stag vignette is in the top center. The lower left has a Native American hunter wielding a tomahawk, and at the lower right is the Florida comptroller's seal. Problem-free and with delightful color tinting. Ex: Eric P. This is from a scarcer series of notes from the bank engraved and printed by Draper, Underwood, Bald & Spencer. At the top center is a block counter TEN flanked by Plenty to the left and Commerce to the right. Identical end panels have classical cameos in the center and corner counters. This Bill of Exchange type is from a complex series of notes issued by John G. Winter and redeemable in three states. It was payable in Columbus, Georgia and also at his New York City office. There at a significant discount of 20%, which is stated in the fine print perpendicular at the left. Finely engraved with banknote style by Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty/Danforth, Underwood. At the top center is seated Agriculture using a large "2" as a chair. Cameo medallion heads are at each end. The John G. Winter signature is engraved. Very sharply printed and an excellent example. - Apalachicola, FL - Commercial Bank of Florida $10 Post Note 18__ FL-5 G36, Benice 25. Remainder. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is a pleasing example of a very scarce Post Note series type engraved by Rawdon, Wright, & Hatch. At the top right a steamboat is on the water, with a loaded wagon on the adjacent shore heading down an embankment. The Gothic title across is balanced by a large "10" die at the left.
