- New Haven, CT - Eagle Bank of New Haven pay at Phenix Bank in the City of New York $5 Aug. 4, 1825 CT-270 G204. PCGS Very Fine 20. This bank issued several series of notes and some, like this, were payable at other banks. An appropriate eagle vignette is at the top center, and the note was engraved by N. & S. S. Jocelyn in New Haven. The left end perpendicular vignette shows a very long, unusual looking building. The right end has Athena in a cartouche. With some light toning, but a very solid example. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $117.50

- Hartford, CT - Bank of Hartford County $1 18?? CT-175 G20 SENC. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. This rare variant from the bank is fully issued, but the date has faded. Well engraved by Danforth, Bald & Co. with a vignette of bricklayers at the top center. At the upper left is the Hartford emblem. Intricate edge details use Cyrus Durand patents. A solid note, but PCGS specifies "Minor Ink Erosion at Bottom Left" that is unimportant. An excellent Connecticut banknote rarity, fully signed and significant as such. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $399.50
