- South Carolina March 6, 1776 17 Shillings 6 Pence Fr. SC-119. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. This resolve is interesting with multiple denominations, styles and sizes and paper types used. This a laid paper note printed in red and black. The small vertical format is quite distinctive compared to most Colonial notes and was used on this series exclusively. Though the note is backed, the face color is sharp and the signatures strong. Noted with "Splits and Tears; Backed." A rare note. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1116.25

- South Carolina November 15, 1775 2 Pounds. Fr. SC-110. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. An interesting series of South Carolina notes with ten denominations printed. The emblem and motto of this note are rather charged. There are two hands, one above wielding a dagger ready to strike, and the other palm up, prepared to shake hands. The motto UTRUM HORUM MAVIS ACCIPE 1775 (Accept whichever of these you prefer) aptly explains the symbolism of this vignette from the onset of the Revolutionary War. Noted with "Splits, Tears, and Damage; Backed." A sharply printed emblem and attractive note overall. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $293.75

- South Carolina June 1, 1775 5 Pounds Fr. SC-98. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The lowest denomination from this Provincial Congress authorized series is printed uniface on laid paper, and in a larger format than used for many Colonial series. At the lower right is a splay of 12 arrows representing the 12 United Colonies and the motto AUSPICIUM SALUTIS (An auspice of well-being). A boldly printed note with five signatures. This example is in above average condition for a series notorious for very rough or damaged notes. Noted with "Minor Splits and Tears." This is quite pleasing and superior to most known examples. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $881.25
