- North Carolina April 4, 1748 2 Shillings Thistle Fr. NC-58. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. An attractive example of this early Proclamation Money issue with a thistle emblem at the lower left. The four signatures are well penned. This type was once much rarer, reflected by the penciled price on the back corner of the note: "50.00." However, most examples of this type from the hoard were damaged and vastly inferior to this note. Noted are "Small Edge Splits and Repairs; Minor Ink Erosion." A premium example with marvelous eye-appeal. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1145.63

Similar in size and style to several issues from the area printed by C. R. and G. Webster Albany, but with the imprint on the back. Ornamental bordering is all around. The text is across, with the denomination in the center and engraved "D. Romeyn" in script at the lower right. (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $470.00

- (Stone Arabia, New York) - Consistory of the Reformed Dutch Church, at Stone-Arabia Sept. 1792 1 Penny Newman page 308, Harris H1. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. A very rare and interesting town name church money note. Similar in size and style to several issues from the area printed by C. R. and G. Webster Albany. The pattern bordering all around uses three different styles. The text is across with the denomination at the top and imprint at the base. The back has the town name and "Church Money" enclosed in ornamental brackets; as on the face, ornamental bordering is around the perimeter. Hand signed by DeWitt Peck. This appears to be the DuPont Collection note, obtained at the March 1993 Smythe auction, as it clearly matches the catalog plate. A bold note overall, though noted with "Splits, Tears and Repairs; Small Hole near Top Center." This note is superior to the one example we have sold, a PMG Choice Fine 15, for $747.50 at the 2010 Boston ANA Sale. Ex: R. M. Smythe & Co. Public Auction #115, March 30, 1993, lot 2240; James A. DuPont Collection; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2016). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $940.00

- (Fort Herkimer, New York) - N. Aldridge "at my Store at Fort-Herkemer" January 16, 1792 1 Penny Newman page 298, Harris H1. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is a very rare private issuer scrip and the Newman Plate Note illustrated on page 298 of the 5th edition. This small format note was printed uniface on laid paper by C. R. & G. Webster, Albany with the imprint at the base. Ornamental bordering is all around, with a wider indent style at the left; the text is across and denomination at the top. It is hand signed. The only other example cited was in the 1993 DuPont Collection sale. The Gordon Harris plate note is a 2 pence that we sold in September 2003 for $1,092.50 (graded "Fine, repaired"). Noted with "Small Edge and Internal Splits and Tears; Repairs." However, the note is bright and well margined. Ex: Eric P.
