- Bank Note Company Engraving Proof Sample Sheet for Draper, Underwood, Bald & Spencer. Undated, circa 1830-40s. Philadelphia and New-York. A second example of this impressive and large sheet, but with faults. There are several tears that are mostly visible from the back and have been sealed with tape. The longest tear is from the top edge. However, this is wide margined and would still frame and display very well. Overall, Very Good. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $517.00.

- Bank Note Company Engraving Proof Sample Sheet for Draper, Underwood, Bald & Spencer. The engraving company sample sheets from the Newman Collection comprise one of the larger groupings offered in the past few years. This beautiful selection offers collectors an excellent opportunity to obtain one or several of these rarities. This sheet is undated, circa 1830-40s. The firm's imprint lists Philadelphia and New-York locations. A stunning, very large format India paper proof sheet on original card. Beautifully designed with a large cameo profile medallion of Napoleon and Marie-Louise at center, surrounded by titles, with the rest of the printed portions radiating around it. Edged on both sides with panels and denominations used on Obsolete notes. Numerous vignettes and cameos used on Obsolete notes from this period and imprint are featured. Many of the vignettes are used on Philadelphia and other Pennsylvania Obsolete notes and proofs. Fully margined and bright. There is a card crease seen from the back, but Very Fine or better for a sheet from this genre. These oversize sheets are rare, and the survival rate is very low due the large size. This is an impressive example that will display beautifully. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $1116.25.

- Framed 1866 "Naramore's United States Treasury and National Bank Note Detector..." Broadside. This is a rarely encountered complete display board with all eighteen Naramore photographic detectors on the face; titles are at the top. The Naramore detectors were created with permission by the United States Treasury Department National Currency Bureau (later, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing) and produced from Treasury Department proofs. The nine initial Legal Tender denominations, $1 to $1000 and Original Series National Bank Notes, $1 to $1000 are used. The board is approximately 10.5 by 13.5 inches (now inside a wood frame) with glazing on both sides in order to show the verso authorizations by Treasury and Naramore from Derby, Connecticut. Framed in dark wood with beaded metal border. A very attractive display. Within the frame, the Naramore Display Board appears Very Fine, bright. The original top suspension hole is concealed within the frame interior (and we do not know if the original string is present). We have handled only one of these displays, and it had water staining, scuffs and a chip off the top left. However, its rarity was enough for it to realize $3,450 in our 2009 Long Beach Sale. This has a superior appearance in comparison, and it is much rarer than individual Naramore cards or boxed sets of cards. A great opportunity to obtain this well-pedigreed rarity. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $3995.00.
