- Framed Display of Bank of the State of Missouri $50 Genuine and Counterfeit Comparison Notes. An interesting framed display titled "The Most Deceptive Counterfeit Circulated During the State Bank Note Period in America (1784-1864) The $50 Bank of the State of Missouri Note." The display features one genuine and two different counterfeit examples of this distinctive and handsome type engraved by Toppan, Carpenter & Co. or Draper, Toppan, Longacre & Co. Affixed notes on manila board with explanatory texts and diagnostics. Haxby MO-60 G6a, MO-60 C6a, and MO-60 C6a variant. Period counterfeiters were sophisticated enough to create four variants including both plate A and B types and "excellent forged signatures." All three raw notes appear to be Fine under glazing, but we note they are mounted on the board in an unknown manner. Ex: Eric P.
