- Troy, NY - Mutual Bank $2 Mar. 1, 1865 NY-2720 G6d. PCGS Very Good 8 Apparent. This is a very late-date issued note from the bank; it shortly issued "Lazy Deuces" to replace these upon becoming a National Bank. At top right, men at the shore work at levering a large block of stone. In green are a large "2" protector and a guilloche outlining a large TWO. The Bald, Cousland & Co. imprint is at the bottom and an "ABC" monogram is at the upper right. Grading notes "Rust Stains at LR." All issued notes from the bank are rare, and this example is very interesting. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $376.00.

- New York, NY - New York Manufacturing Company $20 Post Note Dec. 13, 1813 NY-1825 G52. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. A very rare issued note from the bank. Most known notes are proofs from the former Boyd archive book. This Leney & Rollinson engraved post note shows a woman with a loom at top center and wool carders at the base. End panels have a moir? pattern; the left end has a "20" die in place of the "EN" in TWENTY. This is another unusual example and was pen cross-cancelled twice on the face, perhaps after redemption. Noted as "Pen Cancelled" and with "Minor Mounting Remnants on Back." Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $199.75.

- New York, NY - New York Dry Dock Company $2 Jan. 17, 1833 NY-1810 G12. PCGS Fine 15. This $2 note is from a very rare series and was not represented in the comprehensive White Oak Collection auction by Stack's several years back. At top center, an allegorical female representing hydraulics spills water, and a lock system is seen in background. Franklin is in a frame between "2" dies at each end. The imprint of A.B. & C. Durand & Wright is at the bottom. A rare series of notes. The $1 denomination from this series in slightly superior condition realized $1,116.25 in Newman Part VII. This is equally rare. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $446.50.

- Granville, NY - Merchants Bank of Washington County $2 Dec. 16, 1850 NY-970 G4 SENC. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. This is another SENC rarity and fully issued note. Three allegorical females are at top center with a shield topped by an eagle. At left, between TWO dies, is a Danforth, Bald & Co. vignette with a cotton industry theme. Grading notes "Tape Repaired Edge Tears." The faults are minor, and this example is bold. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $199.75.

- Clymer, NY - Atlas Bank of New York $1 May 10, 1847 NY-675 G2. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Danforth & Hufty's engraving of shipwrights was also used on the Albany Exchange Bank $1 by the American Bank Note Company seen previously in this sale. This note features elaborate scrollwork at the left end and on the ONE protector. A tall statue is at the right end. The Apparent grade is due to a "Small Repair in UR Corner." The flaw is minor, and this is a scarcer New York issuer. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (1/2017). (Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.) Realized $119.00.
