William M. Meredith (1799-1873) an American lawyer and politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury during President Zachary Taylor's Administration, writes to appoint James Curtis Booth (1810-1888) as the Melter and Refiner of the United States Mint.
Friedrich Wahler (1800-1882) was the mentor of James Curtis Booth (1810-1888). Booth studied with Wahler for two years in his private laboratory in the German state of Hesse-Kassel.
