Photostat Copies of the 1870-S $3 and 1822 $5, from the library of Eric P. Newman. The origin of these plates is unknown, possibly ex. Burdette G. Johnson. The Brand estate, portions of which Johnson handled, did contain an 1822 $5, while the (unique) 1870-S $3 was in the Newcomer collection.

Armin Brand passed away in 1946, at which point these consignments are made on behalf of his estate by Frieda Grommes Brand and Jane von Boecklin Allen.
