Early Paper Money of America (NNP Edition)|£45,000 in legal tender Bills of Credit approved on Feb. 19, 1755 to finance the first expedition to Crown Point and to be redeemed by Nov. 1761. Arms are on the right. The top borders of the Dec. 10, 1737 issue were reused without alteration protection lines. The location of the vertical numbering was again moved and reads downward. The abbreviation of number is changed to NUMB. Printed by James Parker on white paper with blank dark coarse paper backs. Signers were Oliver DeLancey, Isaac DePeyster, Nicholas Gouverneur, and John Livingston. Owen Syllavan (Sullivan) was hanged in New York City on May 10, 1756 for counterfeiting bills of this issue. Concealment of his counterfeit money plates was made a felony by a New York Act of July 9, 1756 because at his execution he would not disclose their whereabouts.
