£24,760 (72,216 oz., 13 dwt., 8 gr. of plate) in Proclamation money (£28,886 13s 4d circulating value) authorized by the Act of Feb. 10, 1727/28 to replace the Mar. 25, 1724 issue, which had been extensively counterfeited. Legal tender "between man and man" until Mar. 25, 1736 and invalid after Nov. 1, 1736. Printed under contract with Samuel Keimer of Philadelphia whose employee, Benjamin Franklin, cut and cast the ornaments, built the press and printed the issue. No examples of this issue are known, but a drawing of the layout of a £1 10s Proclamation Money bill was included in the authorizing legislation. This issue began the use of denominational symbols.
