Alan V. Weinberg comments: The extraordinary Canadian silver lifesaving medal was offered on eBay along with an antique desk belonging to the medal's recipient.I was able to convince the seller that no one would be interested in both items as one lot. He agreed to sell me the medal privately & offer the desk on eBay. When I took delivery- travelling all the way from Ca to Balto, Md on business - I was astonished to find it came in its original box with its original cased, vellum document. Oh, joy! In original case, with issue document.

Alan V. Weinberg comments: Ex Garrett/JHU and the finest condition of approx 6 or 7 extant. Exists only in silver. Including one awarded to John Marshall. The worksmanship & engraving on this smaller medal is just astonishing. CC Wright, diesinker.

Alan V. Weinberg comments: DeWitt/Sullivan unlisted. 55mm x 37mm. Superb essentially mint jugate ferrotype which I first obs'd 3 yrs ago (this Sept 2011) and was not for sale. But the collector remembered me & offered it 3 yrs later. I jumped. One of the finest condition period political ferros I've seen. Fragile in structure, it was clearly never worn with the almost always separated reverse pin fully intact. The ferrotypes themselves with fully original gloss and near perfection.

Alan V. Weinberg comments: One of two known in silver, this is the finest & pedigrees to Garrett/JHU in 1981. Bronze specimens do exist and are very rare- perhaps 10 bronzes known. The obverse is extremely high relief and doesn't lay flat.
