After reviewing this recent NYC group ... I think these pieces have=20
finally priced themselves as a main entree' and no longer as an=20
occasional appetizer ... I thought lot 1039 was the top piece with its=20
very crude portrait and very noticeable 'concentric circles' which is=20
synonymous with the concentric circles found on some Blacksmiths=20
indicating a similar manufacturing method. Jim Spilman once gave me an=20
excellent explanation on the origin of these concentric circles=20
originating of course from the planchet preparation process ... I once=20
asked Bill Anton if he recognized these concentric circles on any other=20
series ... or if he had any specimens with these concentric circles ...=20
he indicated to me only two or three pieces (forgot the series) which=20
always made me wonder on the connection between these C2R's and the=20
    Blacksmiths ...
