Arabic script =A0is indeed read right to left, but date numerals go left to= right. I am not sure whether this is due to the fact that the numeral char= acters =A0originally entered Arabic script from the Devangari =A0script of = northern India, which is normally written from left to right. Probably much= more than you wanted to know, but hey...
The date side of the coin is upside down in your image. Flipping it over I'= d say it looks more like 1263. this would mean that it is actually an issue= of Sharif Moulay 'Abd al-Rahman (not Sulieuman as I said before) struck in= AD 1846.
That is really interesting about the provenance. Were there any other oddit= ies like this in the material?

This is a bronze fulus of Sharif Suleiman II of Morocco. It depicts the sea= l of Solomon =A0(pentagram) on the obverse and the Hegira date on the rever= se. How do you read it? It looks like maybe 1233 in the image.
Does this piece have an American find provenance?
