- Gaspard de Chatillion de Coligny was born the son of the Marshall of Chatillion in France. He was a leader in Protestant ares of France with the Hueguenots. He was killed in an uprising and massacre of the Huguenots. In 1624 a group of Waloons sailed for the New World to establish a colony in New Netherlands, later known as New York. Coligny appears on the left of the Huguenot-Walloon commemorative half dollar. His connection was tenuous
