$10 Liberty Gold – With Motto (1866–1907)
The so-called "Liberty" $10 eagles were a popular and functional long-running series from 1838-1907. There were a few design changes from the initial portrait in 1838-1839 but the coin was essentially the same throughout. The only major change occurred in 1866 with the addition of the the words IN GOD WE TRUST to the reverse. Coins of this date were issued with and without this motto. Gold eagles generally saw a lot of circulation and early issues especially are quite rare in high grades.
