Early Paper Money of America (NNP Edition)|
Incorporated in Pennsylvania on Mar. 30, 1793 until Mar. 3, 1813 with a capital limited to $3,000,000, the Bank of Pennsylvania was established at Philadelphia and given the right to establish branches. The Commonwealth was entitled to subscribe up to $1,000,000 in capital and the bank notes were to be receivable in all payments due to the Commonwealth. The Bank of North America, if it surrendered its charter, was given the right to subscribe to 2000 shares at $400 each within three months but that was not done. The president and either the treasurer or the cashier was to sign all the bank notes. Blank backs. Plate letters used.
