Early Paper Money of America (NNP Edition)|Handwritten and numbered governmental bons and certificates issued by the Spanish in the French language to pay armed forces and for other public needs throughout the colony. In due course the issues were accumulated and presented through merchants for payment by the Intendant in New Orleans who redeemed them to the extent of his budgetary allowances.
