Repayable in silver at 19s per ounce, 30% by Dec. 30, 1736, 30% by Dec. 30, 1739, and 40% by Dec. 30, 1743. These promissory notes were payable to the order of Richard Clarke and endorsed by him on the back. The face and back were engraved on copper and contain the motto JUSTITIAE ERGO (For the sake of justice) and a hand holding balancing scales. Signers were James Bowdoin, Edward Bromfield, Jr., William Foye, Hugh Hall, Edward Hutchinson, John Osborne, Samuel Sewall, Samuel Welles, Jacob Wendell, and Joshua Winslow.
