  Last week Dick Hanscom pointed out an item the upcoming December 9th Stack's Coin Galleries sale, and noted that it did not meet Dick Johnson's criteria for being called a cliché. This week Dick Johnson adds this list of numismatic items that are often confused with chichés: -Editor
  • Any cast item with one or two sides -- not a cliché.
  • Die-struck uniface medal - may or may not be a cliché.
  • Die-struck uniface lead (or other soft metal) proof - is ocalled a cliché.
  • A splasher (always one-sided) - is called a cliché.

  Die-striking with two thin blanks -- is a TRUE cliché.
