I have to agree with Rob. Don is not only one of the best guys around in
colonial coins and large cents, he has NEVER done anything the least bit
questionable on e-bay or in his dealings on the bourse floor. I have
purchased many coins from Don over the last decade, and have always been
satisfied with my purchases and have nothing but respect for the man. If you
check out his e-bay record, you will find that there are several hundred
other people out there who feel the same.

EVERYONE is capable of making a mistake, and NO ONE should be tarred and
feathered in a public forum like this UNLESS they refuse to correct their
error. Of the many things I've purchased on e-bay, I have received a
counterfeit coin (offered as real), a counterfeit error (again offered as
real), two misattributed coins, and one piano songbook of Carole King -- my
other great love! -- which was actually a copy and not original. Every one
of those instances were handled honestly and ehtically by the sellers, and a
refund was given. While others in this group would be quick to label these
sellers as dishonest, the simple fact was that they didn't know much about
those areas, made an honest mistake and corrected that mistake when it was
    brought to their attention.

By contacting the high bidder on the coin on e-bay, Don again shows that he
is ethical and has done the right thing.

Yes, Rob, "caveat emptor" is the ONLY way people should do business in this
hobby -- though when you do business with a known and respected dealer like
Don (or many others on e-bay who are good people), you know that there will
always be a safety net under you. Hmmm, that is almost a mixed metaphor, but
    you get the idea.
