What I find most helpful is to figure out what direction the light came from
by looking for highlights on sections that you know are raised. If the
counterstamp shows highlights on the same side, it's also raised, if it
shows shadows on that side, it's incuse. Our eyes assume that the light
comes from above so it can play tricks with you if it comes from below.
