Tom mentioned that there is not a reliable cc# for Nelson 8. It is true
that this variety has not been offered in most of the significant Voce
Populi collections that have come up for auction over the years. It is
also true that many plated examples of Nelson 15 have been misattributed
as Nelson 8. I know of 14 to 15 examples of Nelson 8, that range in
grades from fine to unc (Eliasberg). Five examples have turned up in the
last two years from both sides of the ocean including a nice
unattributed coin that recently sold on ebay. The coin in the auction is
new to me.
