Interesting observation, Dennis. I've noticed this with some of my
photos also, some have much more color than the coin itself. The
colors are there, they're just subdued on the coin. From a scientific
perspective I guess what we are seeing is the difraction of light, so
angle of the light source and the camera probably has a lot to do
with it. One thing I've noticed with color auction catalog photos is
that the luster of the coin does not seem to show up in the color
photo like it does in the B&W image of the same coin. I personally
think that B&W is much better for diagnostics, but I like to see the
color of a coin also, subdued or enhanced. Ideally I'd like to have
both color and B&W images. I suppose there is a way to turn color
into B&W with your computer? If I sent Angel a color image could he
turn it into B&W for in the Newsletter?
