    Hi Stan:

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather also worked in the mint in 1840 and
    can vouch for that story. I can't believe the ultra-rare 1840 1c
with extra zero finally showed up! All of those tales passed down
from generation to generation are TRUE!

I am in the process of selling one of my kidneys to aquire that gem.
I also have evidence that the "extra zero" is punch-linked to the 9
penny nails offered in the Sears catalog.

Since I have also found the same punch on an 1840 British 1/2 penny,
    the "across-the-pond-die-linkage" is finally proved.
