Attached is an image of nice example of the '75 Machin's/Atlee counterfeit =
halfpenny - from the counterfeit egroup files. Since this is the only known=
variety of this date, for a MM, this should simplify the matter of identif=
ication. I know that a lot of the lots offered on eBay claim American prove=
nance for any counterfeit with or without this date, but in this case (1775=
) if it isn't this variety then it is most likely either genuine or a Briti=
sh counterfeit.
