    Hello Bob,

Not only do I personally know the man that is selling the item that
you are bringing attention to on E-bay, I have to inform you that it
is well known, as to the inventions of Jacob Perkins. He was a very
skilled silver-smith in Newburyport, Ma. in the end of the 1700s.
His anti-counterfieting devices are well known in the paper money
    fraternity.

He is also credited with helping engraving 1788 Ma. coppers, and his
inventing a nail producing device, as well as a crude machine gun that
    he demonstrated in France!!!!

Just look in your U.S. Coinage, hardbound, Garrett book to get a good
    look. (page #152).

If you wish to see a "true discovery" about Jacob Perkins, than you
    might want to look in C4 Newsletter, Spring 2001,Volume 9, #1. P.14
My Brother Chris actually made a discovery of a reference to Perkins'
proposed production of his funeral medals. This is important to anyone
who is an authority on Jacob Perkins.

By the way, not only do we both own specimens of his medals, my
Brother Chris and I also grew up about four miles from where Jacob
    Perkins ran his business!

    Geoff Stevens,
