    Byron and all,
I hesitate to jump in on postings that are potentially controversial be=
cause some may construe what are my personal thoughts, to be that of organi=
zations that I'm affiliated with. So let me start by saying that this is j=
ust me rambling on my own.
That said, the whole situation with this Ryder 2 on EBAY seems unexplai=
nable to me. I've seen the two EBAY lots in the postings, and am convinced=
they are the same coin. If indeed the coin was misplaced for 10 days and =
then found, the moral and ethical thing to do would be to recontact the hig=
h bidder and re-offer it at the original winning bid. Giving the original =
consignor the benefit of the doubt, and agree that it was misplaced for 10 =
days, it should not have ended up in another dealer's inventory. COINS DO =
GET MISPLACED! I am very aware that a coin in a C4 auction was missing aft=
er the auction was over! After hoping it would turn up after a period of t=
ime, it didn't. The bidder was understanding and the consignor was paid. =
At the next convention, the coin was found in one of the boxes we use for =
holding lots for viewing! The ORIGINAL high bidder was contacted, and offe=
red the coin at the original bid he made. In addition, shipping fees and b=
idder's fees were not charged to make up for the inconvenience. All partie=
s were happy with the results.
I think that if this original EBAY consignor is to retain any credibili=
ty, the coin should be recovered and re-offered to the original high bidder=
. With respect to the email Byron received about possible "slander" and "l=
egal action", I don't see that anything has been said except for the descri=
ption of a sequence of events that occurred with respect to this Ryder 2. =
I'd have to reread the postings of this group to be sure though.=20=20
I hope that the right thing is done with the coin, and that a situation=
like this would not happen again.

    Ray
