[Colonial Numismatics] Re: C4 articleCome on guys, lets stop this stuff! I = feel bad enough with my slow connection. I don't have to know its is even w= orse than I imagined. I can't even go satellite because the trees in the ar= ea block the signal. As far as Bill is concerned what options are there? Ou= r government signed off and gave him a slight tap on the pinky. I'm close enough to get ADSL but stick with a 56k modem, which usually me= ans 40-44k, just like you Mike. I also avoid Microsoft when I can (though = at work we're about th switch to Outlook, which we're all dreading, even (o= r maybe especially) the IT folks)).
But it's the comment about a 1200 baud modem that makes me write. I reme= mber working with acoustic couplers and thinking that 1200 was the fastest = I would ever need because I didn't read faster than that. That was back wh= en I actually read every single word of every email message I got. With sp= am and other sorts of junk I'd guess I now only read less than 1/4 of what = I get and HTML and JPGs take up more bandwidth than ASCII art.
