The advertising ticket found in the pocket watch for the Mott
Brothers has been inserted to the article at the Heritage website.
For those new to this information an update on the Mott Token can be
found at www.heritagecoin.com/Features/Numismatic Articles. The watch
has been linked to an Alexander Andrew of Potsroy, Scotland. It is a
Potsroy #7 watch which dates to approximately 1825. Therefore this
Mott Brothers advertising/repair ticket is post 1825.
The outstanding questions are: When did the Mott Brothers first
repair chronometers? Marsters who operated nearby at Pearl Street
built the first American chronometer in and around 1831, but when did
the Mott first handle chronometer repairs? Based on the planchet
stock which is diverse but not unusual since the other merchants
issued similar styled planchets, how long did the Motts strike this
token? Considering the family business went from 1789-1855 now wonder
its much more diverse than any other NY merchant. Its now in my mind
been proven to be American product, but what is the circa period of
emission? Is 1825-1840? an overstatement for Rulau? Was Jordan Mott
the only watchmaker in the family as Pietri contends?

    To be continued...
